Hi Barry:
A swan is not a likely prey for an owl, too big. Most coyotes, domesticated dogs, foxes, bobcats, etc., will go for the head or neck to kill first. We have seen a neck completely stripped after the insides (heart and liver) were eaten and knew it was either a coyote, fox or bobcat. A person came upon the animal eating the remains but it was so dark that a proper identification of the predator was not possible.
We are sorry we could not be of better help in identification. As far as repaired, it should have read re-paired or re-mated. If you need to find a good home, try Bob Knox at Knox Swans in Indiana. You will need to google Knox Swans for a telephone. The Regal Swan
