Hi Karen:

Thanks for your kind remarks. You also provided some additional information that could be the cause. Saltwater. If the parents are not finding any freshwater for the cygnets or themselves, they can die from dehydration. Mute Swans do not have a filter to remove salt from the water that they drink. This is not healthy and if the parents do not find an adequate freshwater supply, the other cygnets could also meet the same fate. The Regal Swan
