Thank you so much for your info. The state wildlife specialist that looked at the swan insisted that it was blunt force trama. I asked about the parasites and he said for this area they would have to have been in a river not in the 7 acre pond that they are in.And no, there are no other pairs of swans in the pond or in the area.

As far as feeding these guys,I have never been able to get close to these guys and considering the muck that surrounds this pond from land you couldnt get that close to them unless you want to sink into 3 ft of silt. Which brings up the snapper issue. Yes there are snappers, and I have seen them take down a goose, but they take it down and eat it,they dont leave it, these swans when taken out of the water are totally whole.

Last year the deaths happened over night, this year I saw them alive and well at 11 in the morning ,upon taking an evening walk at 6 one of them was dead and the parents were at a distance looking frantic. When I walked the next day at 9 another was dead in the spot that I saw it alive in the previous evening.

Because I couldnt get up to the place yesterday and get the swan, to take it and have a narcropsy done, and they had no room in their freezer I had to let the swan go without really finding out for sure, and I know that the state wildlife specialist was happy with that.

Considering that this has happened 2 years in a row and never before, Im betting on parasites or fungal that are specfic to swans. If I can find some dead ducks they would atomatically test to find out, which from what they tell me would be bacteria.

Again, thank you so much for all your info.
