Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: female nesting without a mate. (kelly)

My father came home last night to find his male swan had died. There are no signs of any attack, no blood or feathers. The female has been roosting for about two weeks now on eggs. We have built a fence aound her with access to the lake, but what else can we do for her? We are unsure if the eggs are even furtile, but we are assuming they are since the male was around during the time she laid them. Any advice would be appriciated. Thank you for your time.
