Hello,
I live on a 550 acre lake that is home to approx 10-15 mute swans. Yesterday a young swan appeared at my dock, and I am assuming it was born last spring, as it still has many of it's baby feathers. It has stayed in my cove since arriving, and I have been feeding it the 50-50 mix of cracked corn and poultry layer pellets. For the past two years, I have cared for Carl, my geriatric guy (whom I have not seen since mid-December), with your guidance; I am unfamiliar with young swans and would like to know if I need to do anything differently. Do young swans usually stay together? I have only seen this one alone or running away from older pairs that come through my cove.
Thank you!!
Pat
