In Response To: Re: Black swans: Production of eggs (The Regal Swan)

Hi Antonio:

We are assuming that they are old enough to produce eggs and not just practicing. Swan pairs need to be at least 2-3 years of age before producing fertile eggs.

Swans will mate for up to 1 week prior to laying eggs. Once they begin laying eggs, they will continue laying an egg every other day. They will also continue to mate until the last egg is layed. Then, the mother begins the incubation stage which will last from 30-40 days. The Regal Swan
