Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Fighting 3 year old male Mute Swans (Ira)

I have 2 three year old males on my 1 acre pond here in Pennsylvania. They have been together since June of 2013. Lately they have been involved in knockdown, drag out fights. They have been friends up until the beginning of February. Now one is obviously the dominate and the other has isolated himself to the other side of the pond, sitting on the ice. (I have a pump to keep open water). I am worried I may lose one to a predator as there is a woods on the back side of the pond. Will this aggressiveness subside or do I have a real problem with the two remaining together? I'd hate to split them up but if I have to I will for the well being of the boys.
Thank you!
