Hi, I just watched three swans flying together; but they weren't really heading anywhere, just made some large swooping S's back and forth over the distance, didn't seem to land, then headed back home about 15 minutes later. Is it possible this was a "training flight"? Two parents and a juvenile? And why three, not more? (I see lots of photos online that people have taken of "three swans flying", but no explanation of what the trio is - maybe this is a typical formation I'm not aware of?).
Thanks for clarifying -it was lovely to watch.
