We have a wonderful pair of swans. I usually can tell them apart because he is a bit larger and she doesn't get as close. When they are not together, it is more difficult to determine who is visiting. In April, the male comes over during the day. We assume that the female is on the nest prior to the hatching. Does she leave the nest and he sits while she finds food, or is it always the female by or on the nest?
Thank you for your insight.
