I live on a small wetland lake in Pontiac, MI. Six cygnets were born and as of July 6 only one baby has survived. For many days the cygnet was seen with only one parent. Today, July 15, the cygnet is alone with no parent around. Will this baby survive without any parents? Will it be able to fly away when the time comes? In past years, the parents always taught the cygnets how to fly. It seemed to be a long process before they left the lake for good.
