Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Cygnets leaving family (Georgia)

We had swans that breed on our small lake this spring. They had four babies that hatched. When the babies were about 4 weeks old, a predator got one. The next day the patents and babies moved to a smaller lake across the street (we are on a golf course.). They have stayed there all summer. The cygnets are now 5 months old and have learned to fly. Yesterday, the young male apparently flew back to the original lake. He has been here for the second day. Will he find his way back to the family, or do you think the Male father ran him off?
