Hello, We live in the Netherlands where the swan population is quite strong. We have a pair in the neighbourhood - we like to watch them in the mornings on the canal when they pass by our apartment's windows. Today we noticed that the female is busy on the bank of the canal just opposite our windows - it looks like she is building a nest in the reeds. She had some help from the male although he seems to be more interested in feeding. For the past couple of hours the female was sitting in the 'nest'. Is it possible that she is preparing to lay eggs in February? The winter was mild but there are still subzero temperatures at night...
