On Stromberg's website http://www.strombergschickens.com, you will find the following instructions on their "Large/Range Feeders " page http://www.strombergschickens.com/products/feeders_large.php if you scroll to the last item called "Swan Feeder" at the bottom of the page: "This weather resistant and rustproof feeder is designed to fill easily from the top and will automatically dispense the food. Adapted for use as a swan feeder. It should be placed on a vertical metal pole or fence post in the water approximately 2 to 3 feet from the bank, with at least 15" from the bottom of the feeder to the surface of the water." « Hide
