We would suggest not trying to find the remaining bird a mate. If the swan can fly, it can find.a mate or find a new habitat. There are no guarantees that this swan will accept a mate, especially of your choosing. You also do not know the gender of the swan which would have to be checked by a knowledgeable avian (bird) veterinarian. Should you place a swan of the same gender on the pond, one or both birds could engage in a fight and get seriously injured.
