In Response To: Re: Do swans leave and return at different times? (The Regal Swan)

Hi Pam:

Usually, family members stay together. However, if a mate should get separated and take off with a group, it knows through its migratory memory where its breeding/nesting ground/habitat is located. Therefore, during the migration back, regardless of being separated or which group arrives earlier/later, the swans always know where there nesting grounds are located and will usually meet up at the same area as long as nothing happens to either mate.
