Hi Guys
I am in the northern area of NC, I wrote you guys back in Feb. 5 a few times when my swans were nesting and it was 5 degrees a couple of weeks. Good news is I did end up with one Cygnet out of the 4 eggs. Both Swans have been very good parents, but now they have made a new nest and laid 5 more eggs and have started sitting on them. I thought they wouldn't start a new nest until the fall when the cygnet was older. He sits on the edge of the pond or beside the nest and sort of cries... sometimes they go on the pond with him, at other times he will be out in the middle alone. I am feeding him at the waters edge, what do you guys make of this?
Also, like the winter being exceptionally late and cold, this year we skipped spring and went to summer so the days are running up into the high 80s to low 90s.
Thanks
Richard
