Hi Shelly:

If you can provide a pond 1/2 an acre with about 2-3 feet deep, you can not go wrong. The swans will be happy swimming around and we're sure that they will be much more comfortable staying with you as part of the family than being given away.

You will need to prepare an enclosed pen (1/2 on the water and 1/2 on land with a feeder inside the pen) so that they can acclimate to their new surroundings. The pen needs to be approximately 12 feet in length and 6 feet wide. Make sure that the pen is enclosed top and bottom so that the swans are safe from predators.

With such a small pond, you might want to train the swans to come inside the pen at night so that no predators cannot get them on the pond as the pond may be too small for them to use as a safe escape. The Regal Swan
