Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Re: Black necked swan in Ontario (Neil)

We will certainly be watching regularly as we have over the past few weeks for these mystery fowl. My wife is sure they were the same size as the swans we normally see, and wasn't aware that what she "saw" and described to me was not indigenous. It was only after a search online that we realized that birds of this description "didn't belong" in this hemisphere.

Escapees? If Sharyn saw the same swan in February, one of our coldest Februaries (sp?)on record in this region, and my wife saw the same thing, and if they were South American... Well, it certainly is puzzling.

The iPhones will be on alert for a while! Who knows? Maybe we will catch Sasquatch lurking in Whitby! Everyone knows he belongs in BC, and wouldn't survive here!
