Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: addling (connie)

I asked you earlier this year about addling the swan eggs. My question today is concerning the eggs that we did not addle. The swans had 5 eggs, three were not boiled. However, every few days an egg disappears. today the last egg is gone. Will the swan destroy the eggs that we did not boil because we have been going in and out of the nesting area (it is enclosed on the top and all sides except the lake side)? Is it possible to addle half the eggs, and have a successful hatch with the remaining eggs? Will the mother destroy her eggs because we go in the cage every few days? As always, Thanks for your help
