Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Cygnet feeding (Christian)

Hello, my name is Christian, and I would like some advice if you have a second. We are in charge of a breeding pair of white mute swans, we raised two cygnets last year, and have 5 now. A lady comes by an claims her husband is a vet (I'm not sure if this is true or not) and says that we need to soak the feed in water. We feed 50/50 cracked corn and store crumbles. I have found no evidence to support her claim. She has gone so far as to tamper with our feeders and make a floating tray that is full of water. Wet feed just doesn't sound right to me, after all they take the food out and dip it in the water them selves. Any advice?
