Let me more fully explain, I apologise

They are a male and female pair, and neither can fly as either they were pinioned or somehow both managed to get their wings broken or damaged.

They showed up here in 2011 August, from another area of the lake and stay pretty much right behind the house in the big portion of the lake occassionally taking a stroll across our lawn to our front pond.

In the evening they sleep in one general area in the winter, as I keep about a 60x100 foot section of water open with a de-icing water pump system

On Thursday morning, he was swimming back and forth calling in the usual area. She was no where to be found.

Friday was similar swimming around calling, eating etc.

We looked but couldn't find any sign of a fight near the shore or on the ice etc. No feathers, no blood, no tracks etc.

Saturday he began wandering around the property, all over the yard (Ignoring the two air conditioning guys and myself whom he walked right past), and began swimming all over the lake.

He heads off to the back every once and a while outside of where we can see him with the field glasses, stays there for a bit and then comes back and continues the above behaviour of swimming all over and walking all over.

We can't get all the way back as the property is a mixture of wetland and lakes in that direction, and walking is impractical at best. Were waiting for the ice to melt to get the canoe back closer to that area

I wish I could describe this a bit better, your help is appreciated, we can't call anyone locally like our Nature Centers etc. to help us as the DNR in Michigan proclaimed them an invasive species in 2010
