In Response To: Can bread yeast kill cygnets? (claire franklin)

We have the perfect pond, safe to stand and feed the ducks, swans and fish. This year the swan has raised 8 cygnets, as soon as they left the nest a sign went up saying we must not feed the swans as the yeast in bread can kill them.

I have searched the internet and found nothing apart from swans becoming reliant on white bread that has not so many nutrients in it but not that yeast can kill them.

I do not want to do anything wrong, especially not harm these beautiful birds but my children enjoy feeding them, we go twice every week.
