Hi Mat:

You are seeing two parents and 2 juveniles (cygnets from this year) swans on the migratory path to their wintering grounds. Unless your pond is extremely warm and does not freeze and your area does not experience severe winter weather, then the swans will leave very shortly. They are using your pond as a migratory stopover. You do not need to do anything.

Just enjoy them because the NY DEC has been trying to kill them based upon non-scientific research as a non-native invasive species. Both of these contentions are not true as swans have been in the NY area prior to the 1800's and they are a Sentinel species, meaning they alert scientists to problems in the environment so that early intervention can be conducted.
