Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Re: Muscovy ducks (Earlene)

Thanks for your insight. It's just the 3 Muscovy's. Don't bother any of the other ducks even though I do have other white ducks. The swans have a feeding bowl n their territory so to speak. There r 5 feeding bowls so no competition for food. I think I will give the white Muscovy until the end of May before putting her back n the pond with her sisters and the rest of the ducks. Maybe with another month the swans mating and meanness will be over. Both of my swans are rescues and the male will eat out of your hand when it's not mating season. Guess I keep offering my hand till he takes it. Then I'll reintroduce the white Muscovy to the pond.

Thanks for helping me! Our local zoo took my other two rescue swans, both females. I wish now I had give them all three females and just kept the male. Our zoo will only take females. If I was to donate my female(Ellie) would my male (Gus) adjust to being by himself?
