Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Safe shrubs for the swans (Cindy)

Hi. First I would like to thank you for being there to answer questions for us. The eggs I previously asked you about in the barn were indeed fertelized We recently hatched 2 healthy mute swans in the barn. They have been put out to the pond 2 weeks ago and are thriving on starter duck pellets and crack corn with occasional spinach or romaine lettuce. I would like to landscape around their enclosure by the pond. I have bought some boxwood shrubs but i'm afraid to plant them without asking if they are ok for the swans or will it make them ill. We just love to sit and watch them and would not want to unknowingly cause them any harm.

Thanks

Cindy
