Hi there, we live on a marina (in Cambridge, England) and we have a pair of swans that visit our boat regularly. Recently the male swan has been swimming with one foot out of the water and tucked under his wing. We noticed that he has very sore looking brown sores along the inside and outside edges of both feet, which we guessed is why he is alternatively keeping them out of the water, to help with the healing? Is this a known condition in swans and do you think it will get better on its own or should we call the RSPCA or similar to come and help? He also seemed more subdued than usual recently, for about a week or so which we were very worried about, but seems more 'himself' now, but his feet remain the same. His mate does not have this problem.
Thanks
Romy and Paul
We will try and take a photo to send when they visit us next time.
