Ask the Swan Specialist

In Response To: Wry neck? (Dianna)

I have a 5 year old male Australian Black Swan. We found him very sick 3 weeks ago. He had lost a lot of weight and was not eating. I started giving him Tylan injections 2 times daily and oral Doxycycline with tube feeding of ground feeder grower pellets. After two weeks I stopped those antibiotics and started Baytril tablets. I am also using a product called Poultry Cell D/T anemia. This also has vitamins in it. I am giving 3 ml. daily, he weighs 8# 6 oz., should I give more? Blood work looked okay but hemoglobin was decreased. Lead toxicology is pending. X rays were negative. Fecal was negative. I believe he is improved. Is still eating very little on his own but is eating some. I am tubing 60 ml. 2-3 times daily. He has now started holding his neck in typical wry neck fashion. What can I do? I love this swan. Any help truly appreciated. Thank you so much!!
