In Response To: Re: Trumpeter Swan laid eggs 57 days ago, still no cygnets (The Regal Swan)

Hi Dennie:

Trumpeter Swans are a protected species so any moving or tampering of the eggs may get you in trouble. The young mother swan may have no idea what she is supposed to do and this could result her in getting ill. Normally, the mother swans will abandon non-fertile or rotten eggs. In this case, it may take a little longer for the mother to figure this out.

However, once the eggs explode, your neighbor is going to have a very smelly mess on her patio and the mother swan will realize that there is nothing more she can do by sitting around and waiting. The Regal Swan
