Boy's special character

Boy is such a proud old swan these days - and looking wonderful. One morning not long ago though, he got quite mad at me... I had given him his arthritis medication (Glucosemine on bread cubes), when Tristan and Isolde came by. I gave them some, a little further away. Boy pulled his head out of the water long enough to charge over to them and "nip" whoever was closest. He came back, and I gave him a bit more, but he was clearly not a happy swan - tail twitching, swimming back and forth and finally out toward the centre of the lagoon.

The next morning, he was nowhere to be seen! I walked around and around the water's edge, calling him - no Boy. Over an hour later, he somehow just "appeared" from I-don't-know-where -- glided up and took his bread cubes, then took off again - no head-lifting, snorting, fluffing up.

The following day, again - no Boy.... more walking and calling, and waiting..... Again, he finally showed up and accepted his goodies but no special conversation-time.

It wasn't until yesterday he was there, waiting near Nature House, and came hurrying over in his old friendly way, chatting up a storm. Dear old swan - he's got definite ideas of "ownership!"
