Latest Swan News at the Lagoon

I went down to the lagoon early yesterday and saw right away that little Genghis Swan was chasing Boy (he ESPECIALLY likes to chase Boy, for some reason, but doesn't mind substituting others if Boy's not handy!). Boy refused to rush, however, so just kept ahead of the little feathered monster. He swam around in increasingly wide circles until he finally came near the concrete slope, then ran up it, wildly flapping his wings for extra "push" and literally ran along to where I was by the bench. I swear he said, "WHEW! Made it!" on arrival.

Sure enough, he had a quick preen, and went sound asleep, on one leg - eyes tightly closed, while I kept watch and chased Genghis back into the water each time he tried to come up. Boy woke up, slept again - woke up, fluffed himself until he looked like his old proud self, in spite of the light rain. He eventually went back to the water when Genghis took off for other hunting.

Tristan, Isolde and "the teddies" all came up too.

Precious and Marlika were over in the wetlands, so I didn't count on seeing them on this side, but after a while, there was Precious, our regal warrior-swan, sailing over, and coming up. His wings stood high and every feather was fluffed out, so he looked ENORMOUS.
