Swans Through the Seasons
When she first arrived at Lost Lagoon in April, little Isolde’s wardrobe left a lot to be desired. Her feathers were “at sixes and sevens,“ she had trouble settling her wings, and her tail was missing! As anyone knows, a swan just isn’t a swan without a tail to twitch, to lend balance, and to stand up proudly during a sail-past.
One fine day in late May, she began to sprout a single feather straight out the back. “If only she doesn’t lose it during molting season….” we thought. The first week in June a second feather grew proudly beside the first, and before we knew it, she had THREE. She’s looking very much like a pretty little swan now, and can compete with the best of them as the fleet sails across the water!
