Hi Sarah:
Thanks for the kind words about the website. We are glad we can be of assistance.
It is possible that the male could have two mates as this has been seen in the U.K. However, more than likely, the swan is too young to become a mother and may just be sitting on the nest as she deals with a rise in hormone levels.
The other possibility is that the female sitting on the nest is the actual mate and the male and daughter are just floating around the pond together as he sees no competition with the young female and may even be somewhat protective of her. The Regal Swan
