Hi Nancy:
A wild swan is one that is not held in a captive setting, was not brought in by someone to stay on the pond by being rendered unable to fly (pinioned).
An aerator that is 100 feet from the nest is very good so that she can go there for warmth, shelter and be able to drink, eat and bathe. You can provide them with a mixture of 1/2 cracked corn and 1/2 poultry layer pellet. Add some lettuce to supplement their aquatic vegetation needs. Please let us know how the pair and nest do under the upcoming blizzard. Our thoughts are with you and the entire northeast. Hopefully, the storm will stay north and most will just get the outer edge. The Regal Swan
