In Response To: Single swan keeps head under the water for up to 5 min. (Jackie)

I live next to a small pond in Toronto. Previous years there have been swan mates. This year there is a single swan.

It spends a lot of time with its head stuck under the water, for up to 5 min.

Wondering if this is unusual behaviour as a result of losing its mate or an injury and what can be done for it.
