Hi Holly:

It is mating/nesting season. Swans and other birds/animals are having increased hormone levels. They are looking for mates. The swan is seeing his/her reflection in the window and think that it is another swan. The best thing to do is to either tape something over the window (ground/swan level) or place something in front of the window so that the reflection cannot be seen. Keep it there for several days/nights until he understands that the "new swan" has left the area. Once the interest of the reflection is removed, the swan will leave.

Now, if you are feeding the swan at the back of the door, then this is also a major problem. The food is attracting him to this area. If this is the case, then you need to dump food into the water (approximately 3 feet from the bank) so that it does not attract predators/pests. It keeps the swan in the water and away from the house. We hope this information is of benefit. Please let us know how this situation progresses. The Regal Swan
