We have a huge pond behind our house and for the last 2 months have had a male and female white (mute) swan. She has had her nest built for quite some time and we have witnessed them mating but for the last 3 days the male swan has not been at the pond. She still sits on her nest (eggs not laid yet) and swims in the pond. Will she survive without him and why would he leave? Thanks.
