5 month old swan died, was making a rattling noise almost like he had a cold

I have 6 swans that are 5 months old. Last week one of them started staying away from the others. When I would go to feed him he sounded like he was making a rattling noise almost like he had a cold. I wasn't sure if something was stuck in his throat. Within the week he had passed away. Do you know what this was?
