Hi Joan:
The survival of the swans during the summer is completely dependent upon the weather and temperatures. Australian Black Swans are southern hemisphere swans and therefore, will not do well in extreme cold temperatures. Having said this, adults may have a higher probability of surviving than the cygnets.
We contacted Wendy Hermon at Swan Support in Eton. She asked us to give you her number. Wendy and her swan rescue team are often in Southampton and if you think that the swans are in danger, she will help capture and place them in a warm environment for the winter. You just need to contact her with the specifics of the swans and your location.
