Hi Richard:
This is going to be an interesting question this year. Most Mute Swans lay eggs mid March/late March. This means that most cygnets hatch out around late April or early May. The problem this year is the weather. Many parts of the country are still receiving snow which may confuse the birds as to when they are to begin nesting. Some will go ahead and nest, but the eggs or cygnets may not make it, especially if we have these continued cold fronts. But again, Mid March/late March is the norm.
