Ask the Swan Specialist

One of the swans in our lake died.

Hi, I live in a 40 acre lake in RI.

A pair of swans have been here for as long as I can remember. One of the pair died recently. So I guess my question is what will happen to the remaining swan?

Is there any way I, as a resident can "encourage" repopulation of our lake with another swan or a new pair?

This question may sound a bit silly but we love swans on our lake and miss him/her already! They used to keep geese out. Will the single swan still protect his or her domain?
