Hi, our resident female swan lost her partner last winter but found another. They had seven cygnets two weeks ago. Yesterday after being together in the morning, the female has stayed on our small pond, and male and cygnets disappeared. It's been 24 hours. Will they return or is she sick/dying?

We think she's at least 15 years old.
