Purchased 2 female swans about 7 years ago. Last year purchased a male. He did pick one female and they hatched 2 signets. Both adults appeared very healthy, at the beginning of January the female was found dead. This morning, Feb. 9th I found the male dead he was in a sleeping position. They are in a fenced area, no signs of trauma. Oddly, in another area of my property, I found a duck dead with no signs of trauma, in a fenced in area with access the bayou. I live in south Louisiana near a bayou that crosses an intercoastal waterway. Wild ducks and domestic ducks fly in from other areas. Is there a virus or illness that I am not aware of dealing with water fowl in the southern states. I also have chickens that mingle with my ducks and swans. One female adult remains separated from the signets, so I fear for their health.
Thanks for any suggestions.
