Ask the Swan Specialist
Date: 7 July 2014
Hi Tracy:
We think that we know the park that you are referring as we had some experience with this same park and similar issues years ago. We brought this to the attention of park personnel as well as city administrators and basically found a deaf ear. If these swans and their cygnets are not taken to an experienced swan veterinarian, examined and treated, then more swans will perish. If this is a contagious situation, more of the swan flock will also suffer. Please contact the park personnel and have them take the swan parents and cygnets to a qualified swan veterinarian for treatment. If they continue to refuse treatment, you may have to contact the media, but also be prepared that you will no longer be asked to volunteer for the park if you do contact the media. The Regal Swan
