In Response To: Will swans chase away other water birds? (Jacqui)
Hi Jacqui:
The Australian Black Swans are much more defensive than the other species of swans. No matter which species, they may all chase your geese and ducks during the mating season. This is an individual attribute as some may not chase and accept the other waterfowl, but again, mating season and rise in hormone levels will have all species, including ducks and geese protecting their territories. Additionally, the Australian Black Swan species nest and produce cygnets twice a year while other species only nest and produce cygnets once a year. So, the Australian Black Swans can produce the chasing twice a year. The Regal Swan
