Well...another question if you don't mind....

It looks like our swan family that lost 2 to the dog earlier today, has now abandoned another one....they were all together for several hours after the attack and the abandoned cygnet is not injured (my wife rescued it). Can you explain the different scenarios that would cause the parents to abandon this little guy.

We're in the process of having a nature center come get the little guy and raise him to full grown. Tough day over here!
