Thank you SO much for your quick reply - and we were most impressed that you could direct us to a source of help here in the UK!
We contacted Wendy and she was incredibly helpful and reassuring in her advice, even providing backup support in offering to contact the RSPCA on our behalf if we thought this pen needed further help. Hopefully that will not be the case, but at least now we feel we have someone expert to fall back on if necessary.
