Hi Katrina,
I live on a lake in New Jersey with one swan. The female was hit by a car last year leaving the male alone. Foxes tried to get him when the lake froze with the horrible winter last year. We were able to keep him alive by installing an aeration system but the lake is shallow and not a lot of open water space is produced. I am so happy to hear about your method of keeping the pond open and I would like to hear details.
How deep is the water where you sink the 5 gallon bucket and what is the size and type of the sump pump you use? Also what kind of electrical cord is used that can go into the water to connect with the pump that is safe?
Thank you so much,
Lynne
