Hi Faye:

This is a defensive or alert pose. The swan will use the wings in a defensive manner for any possible threat and the raising of the wings prepares the swan to strike if necessary. Even though this is a defensive pose, it is nonetheless very beautiful. Thanks for sharing. The Regal Swan
