Hi Guy and Fiona:

Sometimes geese and swans get along quite well as long as there is no issue regarding abundance of food, nesting sites, etc. We would suggest taking 2 geese -no more than 2 and preferably a pair) and placing in the same pen as Juliet and the duck. Stay nearby and observe for any signs of aggression. If there is, then you have your answer and know to keep them separated.

Also, offer plenty of food for the geese and Juliet during feeding and introduction time as they will get used to her and the duck eating with them and know that they all are going to be fed. Make sure all get a good portion of food so there is no competition. This setting will provide you with more information on how they will interact.

As time passes, keep adding geese until Juliet is introduced to the whole group. This will afford all of them with added room by opening both halves of the pond. The only time that there may be chasing/aggression is during nesting/mating season. However, since the geese have been speaking with Juliet and know that she has been in the other pond, it is not like you are dropping her into the habitat without any introduction. Just keep a close eye out for any problems and separate if it occurs. You may have to keep them separated, but again, this could work out for all concerned. The Regal Swan
