Lone swan on the sea

Yesterday we gathered as a family to scatter the ashes of our parents, we done this in a favourite spot of our childhood where our parents used to take us, Reculver beach, the tide was coming in & it was a little breezey, as I throw some ashes & flower petals, a little way out a swan was gracefully passing, the sight of this swan was absolutely stunning & made the occasion more beautiful, I had never seen a Swan on the sea, & in the vast ocean looked amazing. My question, is this a normal thing for swans to do occasionally, were we lucky to see this beautiful sight at such an emotional time ?
Many thanks
